Poets of England,part one

This is my first post for over a month now,I so hope everyone enjoys it.Cheers!

It was perhaps Chaucer to first delight
Or perhaps the lyric of Tomas Wyatt
Or the verse of Edmund Spencer outright,
Whoever bard may be,I shall choose quite’.
I have learnt of Phillip Sydney gallant,
And read upon the page,of Raleigh’s boom,
And saw Chapman blessed with speech eloquent,
Who so spoke like Homer in his true bloom.
Now I shall recall Drayton and Marlowe,
And retell the world of Shakespeare’s heyday,
While Donne, and Ben Johnson, wait just below,
To sing, and to rhyme yet another day.
